Today’s match report courtesy of our sponsor: The Tower Bar, Livingston

12th January 2020

West Lothian League

Venue: Livingston Stadium

Tower AFC: 3

Thorniewood: 1

Scorer: Scott Croal, Ross Lindsay, Michael Legget

MOM: Whole Team - Everyone had an outstanding game.

The Tower Team lined up with multiple new players. The game started with Thorniewood on the front foot, but The Towers defence was solid and prevented Thorniewood getting a real threatening shot away. However just before the ten-minute mark The Tower were taking the game to Thorniewood, 0-0.

11 minutes played Ross Lindsay put through Scott Croat who smashed the ball into the back of the net to put The Tower into the lead and to get his first goal in four months, 0-1.

The next ten minutes after The Tower went into the lead. They kept the pressure up and Thorniebank had no real answer to the pressure but The Tower couldn’t capitalise, 0-1.

At the twenty-minute mark Thorniebank produced their only dangerous chance of the half but Shaun McColl made a fantastic save to keep The Tower in the lead, 0-1.

For the next fifteen minutes The Tower were the dominant team having enough chances to put the game to bed only being kept out by our own mistakes or the Thorniewood keeper, 0-1.

From the 35th minute to the 40th minute The Tower had two great shots. Ross Lindsay scored on the 37th minute to double the lead but Scott Croat a minute later unluckily sliced a shot just wide, 0-2.

HT: 0-2.

The second half started very 50-50, both teams making runs and trying to start the half on top. Thorniewood got through but Shaun, once again, kept them out, 0-2.

The second half continued with both teams driving forward but again The Tower had the better chances. They couldn’t capitalise until the 70th minute and Ross Lindsay held the play up, passed across the face of goal and Michael Legget got a tap in, 0-3.

The game continued until fulltime very 50-50 in possession. No chances were created other than the penalty given to Thorniewood which as good as he was playing. Shaun was unlucky not to save allowing Thorniewood onto the scoresheet, 1-3.

FT: 1-3

A great result for what was essentially a new teams first game together.
